Summer Bird - A delicious golden tea to refresh & inspire

Our founder and Medical Herbalist, Cath Minter, chats about Summer Bird and the health benefits of this herbal tea tea.

'Summer Bird' Tea Lady tea combines high quality, large cut lemongrass, indigenous Australian lemon myrtle and rosehips to create a striking, zesty and rejuvenating cuppa. This was one of the very first teas I blended for patients in my clinic in response to a common complaint of every day life fatigue. "I don’t feel sick but don’t feel well- I just don’t feel myself”. Or the “ I’m always feeling tired" or "I’m forever catching every cold or sniffle that’s going around"………

Summer Bird tea not only looks and smells like sunshine when brewed, it has the same warming effects on the vitality and spirit like sitting on the back step to drink in the winter sunshine. It fills you up with nourishment. Summer Bird tea delivers a steady healing effect and boost to the vitality largely due to its rich Vitamin C content and anti-oxidant, anti-microbial actions.

Lemon Myrtle is one of Australia’s most significant new popular culinary herbs used in cooking and tea drinking, but it is fast becoming well-known for its medicinal value as well. Rich in essential oil it is best known for its anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties.

Lemongrass has a cleansing action through liver function so it is really useful for the fatigue which is generated by over-consumption of alcohol, sugar and fatty foods.

Herbalists also use Lemongrass to assist in the healing of teenage acne and the liver sluggishness that comes with the hormonal waves of teenage growth. This is a fine tea to consider to support your teenager hormonally and to prevent recurring acne outbreaks. Its high volatile oil content has an anti-microbial action and the caffeic and chlorogenic acids and beta carotene have been shown to have strong anti-oxidant effects, helping the skin heal and to prevent the body aging prematurely.

Rosehip tea has long been used in traditional herbal medicine as a ‘pick-me-up’ tonic largely due to its Vitamin C and bioflavinoid content, giving a boost to the immune system and adrenal function. The particular Rosehips in this blend have been harvested and dried carefully, to ensure optimum levels of Vitamin C are retained.

It’s a delicious tea to drink all winter long to avoid the cold and flu season and boost energy and vitality.

Unlike other Rosehip based teas, Tea Lady have ensured the essential fatty acid rich Rosehip seed is retained in the blend to give the tea that extra health boost, rich in the Essential Fatty Acids  (EFAs)  Omega 3 and 6. The human body needs EFAs to manufacture and repair cell membranes, enabling the cells to obtain optimum nutrition and expel harmful waste products. A primary function of EFAs is the production of prostaglandins, which regulate body functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, blood clotting, fertility, conception, and play a role in immune function by regulating inflammation and encouraging the body to fight infection.

Summer Bird tea is delicious both hot and cold and has no safety restrictions.

Suitable for children over 12 months. Check with your health professional before taking herbal medicines.
